1. Jump on your computer and download a copy of iOS 8.0 from ipswdownloader.com. Make sure you pick your correct phone model otherwise it won't install.
2. If you have Find My iPhone on, you will have to go to Settings > iCloud > Find my iPhone and turn this off. You will need to make sure you have your Apple ID and password handy for this step.
3. Once the file has finished downloading, plug your iPhone into your computer and open up iTunes.
4. Click on the 'iPhone' button in the top right corner of iTunes and then 'Check for Update' while simultaneously holding Shift (on Windows) or Option (On Mac).
Now go ahead and find pick the ipsw file you just downloaded and hit OK. From here, your iPhone will install the older version of iOS 8 as an 'upgrade', so it won't actually delete your settings or files.
Apple may release another update to fix its problems later on today, so if that all seems too hard, you can always wait for Apple to turn your iPod back into an iPhone.
Apple has told news.com.au that they have a fix on the way.
